Does Naukri use ATS?
In practice, yes. When you upload a résumé, Naukri parses it into structured data — designation, employers, dates, education, skills — and stores it alongside your profile. Recruiters then search that data through Naukri's résumé database, Resdex, using keywords and filters. Many employers also push applications into their own applicant tracking system. Either way, if a parser can't read your résumé, recruiters searching for your skills won't find it.
Naukri does not publish its ranking algorithm. This guide describes how résumé parsing and recruiter keyword search generally work, and what Naukri shows recruiters publicly.
How Naukri recruiter search works
Résumé parsing
Your uploaded file is converted to text and split into fields: name, contact details, skills, experience, education and location. Tables, columns, images and text boxes are the usual reasons text comes out jumbled or missing.
Profile + résumé together
Your Naukri profile fields — headline, key skills, total experience, current location, notice period — sit next to the parsed résumé. When the two disagree, or a section didn't parse, you match fewer searches.
Keyword search and filters
Recruiters type keywords (“Java”, “SAP FICO”, “Inside Sales”) and narrow by experience, location, salary and recent activity. Profiles that contain the exact terms and fit the filters are the ones that appear.
Employer screening
When you apply to a job, the employer may screen with questions (minimum experience, location, notice period) or forward your application to its own ATS, which parses your résumé again.

10 ways to get found in Naukri recruiter search
Use a single-column format
Multi-column layouts are the most common reason parsers merge or drop sections.
Use the job description's exact terms
Recruiters search the words in their JD. Use the same phrasing where it is true for you.
Use standard section headings
Experience, Education, Skills, Summary — not creative alternatives.
Avoid tables and graphics
Tables, charts, images and icons break parsing. Use plain text.
Upload a text-based PDF or DOCX
Never a scan or image export: if you can't select the text, a parser can't read it.
Fill in key skills on your profile
Recruiter keyword searches match profile skills as well as résumé text.
Keep profile and résumé consistent
Total experience, current role and location should be the same in both.
Write skills the standard way
“React.js”, “Project Management” — the terms recruiters actually type.
Write a specific headline
“Senior Java Developer, Spring Boot, 6 yrs” tells a recruiter more than “IT Professional”.
Stay active while you're looking
Recruiters can filter by recent activity, so log in and refresh your profile regularly.
Common Naukri résumé mistakes
Design templates with graphics and icons, which parsers often read out of order or not at all
Skills laid out in a table, so cells are read in the wrong order or skipped
Your name or contact details inside an image, header or footer
Creative section headings like ‘My Journey’ instead of ‘Experience’
Uploading a scanned, image-based PDF instead of a text-based one
Missing the keywords from the jobs you are applying for
A profile that hasn't been touched in months while you are job hunting
Abbreviations that are never spelled out (ML instead of Machine Learning)
Frequently asked questions
Does Naukri use ATS?
Naukri parses every résumé you upload into structured data and makes it searchable by recruiters, which is the core of what an applicant tracking system does. Recruiters search Naukri's résumé database (Resdex) by keywords and filters, and many employers also pass applications into their own ATS. So yes — your résumé needs to be readable by a parser to be found.
What is Naukri Resdex?
Resdex is Naukri's résumé database product for recruiters. Recruiters search it with keywords (skills, tools, job titles) and narrow results with filters such as experience, location, salary and how recently a profile was active. Your profile fields and the text parsed from your résumé are what those searches match against.
Can I see my ATS score on Naukri?
Naukri shows a profile-completeness indicator, not an ATS score. To see how a parser reads your résumé file and which keywords are missing, run it through a Naukri ATS score checker such as ResumeGyani's free checker at resumegyani.com/ats-score-checker.
Is Naukri profile completeness the same as an ATS score?
No. Profile completeness counts how many Naukri profile fields you have filled. An ATS score estimates how well your uploaded résumé parses and matches the keywords recruiters search for. Recruiters see both, so keep the profile complete and the résumé parser-friendly.
Why is my resume not showing in Naukri search?
Common reasons: the résumé uses tables, columns or graphics that break parsing; it does not contain the exact keywords recruiters search for; profile fields like key skills, experience or location are incomplete or do not match the résumé; or the profile has not been active recently and recruiters filtered for active candidates.
How often should I update my resume on Naukri?
Update it whenever something real changes, and log in and refresh your profile regularly while you are actively looking. Recruiters can filter by recent activity, so an untouched profile can drop out of filtered searches.
